The Welcome Message
Greet new loyalty members and tell them the balance they're starting with, including the window that stops your whole membership being welcomed at once.
Greets someone the first time they join your loyalty program, and tells them the balance they’re starting with. Sent once per customer, ever.

What it does
One message to a new member, on the first daily run after they qualify. Unlike the review messages there are no variants — a single form, and a switch at the top.
It pairs naturally with a Join the loyalty program earn rule: the rule gives them a starting balance, and this message is what tells them they have it.

Timing
| Setting | What it does | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Wait this many days after someone joins | 0 sends on the next daily run after they join. Raise it to let your own welcome email go first. |
0–30 |
| Don’t welcome anyone who joined longer ago than | The safety catch. Everyone who joined inside this window is eligible on the next run. | 1–30 |
Set the second field before you switch this on. It is what stops your entire existing membership being welcomed all at once on the first run. If you’ve had members for months and the window is wide, everyone inside it is eligible the same night — and they have all already been customers for a while, so a “welcome” reads badly.
Worked example: a store switching Welcome on for the first time
The store has 800 existing members and wants only genuinely new ones greeted.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Send this message | ✅ on |
| Wait this many days after someone joins | 0 |
| Don’t welcome anyone who joined longer ago than | 2 |
Why 0 for the wait. A welcome is worth most while joining is still the thing they just did. Raise it only if you have your own welcome email that should land first — in which case set it to a day or two past that one.
Why 2 for the window. It’s the tightest sensible setting: anyone who joined in the last couple of days gets welcomed, and the 800 existing members don’t. Widen it later once the backlog is behind you, if you want a little more slack for members who join on a day the run misses.
Tips
- Narrow the window before the first run, widen it after. The window’s only real risk is on day one.
- Give them a balance worth mentioning. A welcome email that says “you have 0 points” is worse than no email. Run a signup bonus alongside it.
- Build the Klaviyo flow first. As with every Reorbit message, this selects the audience; Klaviyo sends it.
- It sends once per customer, ever — someone who leaves the program and rejoins isn’t welcomed twice.
FAQ
I turned it on and nothing sent.
Check three things: the Send this message switch is on, Klaviyo is connected with a flow built for it, and the joined longer ago than window — members who joined before that window aren’t eligible.
Can I A/B test it?
No. Welcome carries only thresholds, so there’s a single set of settings rather than variants.
Does it count toward my weekly message limit?
Yes — like every scheduled message. (See Delivery settings.)
What’s the longest I can wait?
Thirty days, on either field.
