Celebrate Account Anniversary — Earn Rule Example
Reward customers each year on the anniversary of joining. The exact fields, a worked example, and why it works when a birthday rule can't.
Points every year on the anniversary of joining. The birthday rule’s quieter sibling — and the one that works on day one, because you already have the date.
Where: Settings → Earn points → Create rule → Account → Celebrate Account Anniversary
What it does
Awards points each year on the anniversary of the customer joining. Reorbit already knows the date, so unlike the birthday rule there’s nothing to collect from anyone — the audience exists the moment you switch it on.
In the widget, members see it described as Every year, automatically.
The fields
| Section | Field | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rule Name | Rule Name | Required. E.g. One year with us — 300 points. |
| Rule reward | Reward | Required. The anniversary points. |
| Eligibility Period | Start / end date | Optional. |
| Points Holding Period | Number of days | Leave at 0. The field shows here but has no effect — there’s no order behind an anniversary, so nothing to hold points against. |
| Earning Limits | — | Fixed: once per customer, per anniversary. Nothing to set. |
| Inclusions & exclusions | Customer tags, products | Optional. |
| Rule Status | Active / Disabled |
Worked example: 300 points a year
- Go to Settings → Earn points and click Create rule.
- Under Account, choose Celebrate Account Anniversary.
- Fill in:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Rule Name | One year with us — 300 points |
| Reward | 300 |
| Points Holding Period | 0 |
| Rule Status | Active |
- Save.
Watch the first run. Every member who joined more than a year ago has an anniversary waiting. Depending on how long you’ve been trading, switching this on can pay out to a large group in short order — worth knowing before you set the number, not after.
Restrict it if you’d rather start small. Use Inclusions & exclusions to limit the rule by customer tag, run it for a segment first, then widen it.
Tips
- This one needs no data collection, which makes it the easiest annual reward to launch. Turn it on early.
- Consider it a re-engagement tool. An anniversary is a reason to email someone who hasn’t bought in months, and points give the email something to say.
- Pair it with the Points reminder message so the balance doesn’t just sit there. (See What are retention triggers?.)
- Size it near your birthday reward if you run both, so neither looks like the consolation prize.
