Moderating Reviews in Reorbit

Review, approve, and showcase customer feedback — and set rules so trusted reviews publish themselves.

What is review moderation?

Review moderation is how you decide which customer reviews appear on your storefront. Reorbit gives you two tools:

  1. Manage Reviews — a workspace to read each review and publish, unpublish, feature, or archive it.
  2. Reviews Moderation settings — rules that auto-publish trusted reviews and filter profanity so you don’t have to touch every one by hand.

Part 1 — Moderating reviews by hand

1. Open Manage Reviews

From the app, go to Manage → Reviews. You’ll see your reviews in a list with a search box and filter tabs: All, Published, Unpublished, and Archived (each shows a count).

2. Read a review

Click a review to open it. Opening an unread review marks it as read. You’ll see the customer, star rating, and their comment.

3. Take an action

For the selected review you can:

ActionWhat it does
PublishMakes the review visible on your storefront.
UnpublishHides a previously published review.
FeatureHighlights the review (toggle on/off) so it stands out.
ArchiveSets the review aside without deleting it.

Use the filter tabs to work through Unpublished reviews first, then feature your best ones.

Part 2 — Auto-publishing & profanity filters

1. Open Reviews Moderation

From the app, go to Configure → Reviews Moderation.

2. Set up Autopublishing

In the Autopublishing section:

  • Enable Autopublishing — turn the switch on to let qualifying reviews publish automatically.
  • Minimum Rating — only auto-publish reviews at this star rating or higher (1–5).
  • Delay (days) — optionally hold reviews for a number of days before they go live.

3. Set up Profanity Filters

In the Profanity Filters section:

  • Profanity Blacklist — words that flag or block a review (enter words separated by commas).
  • Profanity Whitelist — words to always allow, so legitimate terms aren’t caught by the filter.

4. Save

Use the save bar to save your moderation settings.

Tips & best practices

  • Start conservative with auto-publishing — e.g. only auto-publish 4★ and 5★ reviews, and moderate the rest by hand.
  • Use the delay to give yourself a window to catch anything the filters miss before it goes live.
  • Feature a handful of standout reviews rather than many — a few great ones carry more weight.
  • Keep the whitelist current if your products use words a generic profanity filter might misread.

FAQ

Does archiving delete a review? No — archiving sets it aside. It’s not shown on the storefront but isn’t permanently removed.

If I enable auto-publishing, do I still need to moderate? Only for reviews that don’t meet your auto-publish rule (e.g. lower ratings, or those caught by the profanity filter). Everything qualifying publishes on its own.

What’s the difference between Unpublish and Archive? Unpublish hides a review but keeps it in your active queue; Archive files it away out of the main workflow.
